There are numerous other Amazon links on the site, and I receive no commission from your clicking on them or purchasing a book.

Emergencies
As noted above, this site doesn’t provide emergency assistance. However, on rare occasion, I may contact authorities, parents (of minors), or other potential helpers (e.g., a school) if you appear to be in imminent danger and provide me with information to do so and/or if your IP address reveals sufficient data about your location. (In general, IP addresses usually are overly broad to be of use, but occasionally they provide specific info about a site or location.)
Guest Columns
I occasionally publish guest columns. If you’re interested in submitting one, please read the Guest Post policy and then contact me by submitting the form below. If your idea is for a legitimate post and not an effort to obtain backlinks or other marketing, I will reply. Due to time constraints, I’m unable to reply to other types of proposals.
Privacy
Except in very limited circumstances, I will not use the information you provide on this site or your IP address to try to locate or identify you. The limited circumstances in which I may try to find your identity or location, in order to notify authorities, parents (of a minor), or others who can help, include the following: imminent or very high risk of suicide, imminent or very high risk of harm to others, child abuse or neglect, elder abuse or neglect, and other situations that suggest help is urgently needed for your protection or others’. In my 10 years running this site, I’ve resorted to outside assistance in such situations a dozen or so times (out of more than 10,000 comments submitted).
As for other privacy concerns:
- The site’s anti-spam software uses cookies if you submit a comment. It’s possible there are other cookies, too, that I’m not aware of (I’m not very tech savvy) but rest assured that I don’t use the cookies for anything, if so.
- In case you leave your email address to sign up for updates or notifications, I do NOT distribute that address to anybody.
- If you submit a comment with your full name, please let me know in the comment if you don’t want your full name published. You also can feel free to submit a comment with only your first name, a pseudonym, or no name at all.
